Forgive me for posting this but as many of my readers know I do like to keep a record of what on earth is going on in the garden at different points of the year; hence these photos.
Sorry for those wanting beekeeping blogs but I do, each month, try to remind myself exactly what is going on in my own garden and this is my little photo gallery! Please excuse me. Interesting to compare it to June last year, quite a difference due to the warm spring we had.
As my eyes start to see the daffodils starting to show their little bulbous heads and the snowdrops lighting up the area underneath the willow tree and hope that it will not be too long before the crocuses start to come into flower. These after all are fabulous flowers for bees.
Apart from that it is the start of my own growing season in the garden and on the allotment. Thanks to Seedparade I have got lots of different seeds this year and have already starting sowing. This blog is my own diary for what I am planting and when so sorry to you beekeeping people. Read the rest of this entry »
I have been very fortunate to meet Lisa Cox a very experienced Garden Designerover here in the UK and I recently asked for her knowledge on the complex subject of bee friendly plants
So the winter is upon us and the gardening and beekeeping world is shutting down. Its funny, I have a mixture of slight melancholy about it. Part of me is sad that it all now slows down, the garden doesn’t look as nice as it did several weeks ago, the bees are less active and are all tucked up trying to keep Queenie warm (at a constant 35 degrees) and yet there is also the other side of me that is a little bit happy about it all. Sorry for this but it is a small reminder for me when I did small bits to the garden for next year!
Today was a glorious day and it was a true Autuminal day. Lovely rich sunshine, low in the sky bouncing off the few remaining flowers. Lovely, I was a very happy man.
As many of you know I do this each month for my own records but was asked to put them up here for interest sake. If you click more you will see seperate photos of my garden and allotment. Read the rest of this entry »
As you all know I often do a photographic update of the garden each month (so I can remember what on earth has been planted and where!). This month I have been a little delayed as I have tried to work out a better way of showing things. I hope this slideshow has paid off………but let me know what you think…..
A bit of an up and down week this week. The weather has been amazing which has caused all manner of problems with watering. The first casualty of this were the runner beans – although not sure if this was the late and hard frost we have had recently as well. My pumpkins and squash were also casualties and the sweetcorn wasn’t looking particularly great this morning either. I just don’t think I was watering them enough. Read the rest of this entry »
So here is the conundrum. I am a relaxed person. “She who must be obeyed” is my calendar, diary and knowledge base about most things in life. I just go from one thing to the next oblivious of how everything fits together. I am also known for the “It’ll be alright” philosophy as invariably it always is; until this time.
