Weekly Inspection 12th April

Observations:

Weather: very warm for early April. Temperatures between 16°C – 20°C and set to continue. Still chilly in the evening but bees are making the best of it. Lots of foragers out flying.

Forage: Qunice, pear, laurel and blackthorn.

Will need to decide on splits in the next 2 weeks, especially with the 3 new queens arriving in May. As I want to increase the number of colonies I think I’ll do a vertical split on one of the colonies and nuc splits on at least one other colony.

Put the bait hive out earlier in the week and heard today, 12th April, of the first swarm callout in the area.
